Hi and because a video is worth a thousand words
I’ve finally got a “working” solution to convert ODP into Blender GameEngine. As shown in the video, this set of scripts will:
- extract text and images from your presentation and convert text as images with Pango/Cairo (provided by pyGTK)
- inject those images in a Blender Template fueled and powered by game engine objects and settings
The last command will finally end up with a final .blend file. Then you can start it with the blenderplayer (at least with Blender 2.4x series).
The next roadmap for this tool will be mainly:
- migrate to Blender 2.5
- handling more ODP stuff (transitions…)
- … and maybe a simple graphical interface
If you want to use/test it, grab the 0.2-alpha-1 version at http://github.com/kiniou/blender-smooth-slides/downloads

That’s indeed sexy, but i doubt it’s wise. Usually, when your presentation feels boring, *you* are the one to be more dynamic and involve the audience … Or the content of the presentation needs revision so that it is more accessible.

Yes you are totally right about “boring presentation = bad content”. The introduction text at the beginning of the video is mostly parodic (like TV ads). It is just a Presentation-Look-Enhancer

Hi!
Really a great job that should not have to depend on your good will (and smart mind): if people at LibreOffice or OpenOffice were wise, they should take the code further.
It would be a great (invaluable?) deal to have blender-powered presentation generated by odf capable office suites, maybe choosing from some templates!
Anyway, thanks and congrats
